Šanghaj, najmodernejšie a najväčšie mesto Číny s 25 miliónmi obyvateľov, ma privítal s teplými a slnečnými dňami, ktoré som si tu mohla užívať dokonca ešte aj v decembri. Občas príde do mesta vyššie znečistenie ovzdušia ako by bolo dobré, ale stále to nie je tak zlé ako v iných mestách Číny. Popravde Šanghaj si ma získal od prvého dňa! Môžem povedať, že ma neprestáva baviť naďalej, pretože je tu neustále čo robiť, čo objavovať či vyskúšať niečo nové. Táto supermoderná a rýchlo rozvíjajúca sa metropola sa môže pýšiť najvyššími budovami sveta, no na druhej strane svojimi pretrvávajúcimi čínskymi tradíciami a láskou k rodinnému životu. Veľmi príjemne ma prekvapil aj fakt, že Šanghaj je mimoriadne zelené mesto, v ktorom nájdete rastliny a stromy všade.

Medzi moje najobľúbenejšie a najzaujímavejšie miesta v Šanghaji, ktoré som doteraz navštívila, patrí napríklad oblasť The Bund, najväčší a najautentickejší čínsky budhistický chrám Longhua Temple, orientálna záhrada Yu Garden, rozprávkovo očarujúce uličky Xintiandi či nákupná ulica Nanjing Road.

V tomto najľudnatejšom meste Číny je však najzaujímavejšie to, že vás neustále a každý deň prekvapí nová vec, a to je na tom to najkrajšie, či? No dobre, poďme sa na to radšej pozrieť spoločne. Spísala som pár bodov, v ktorých vám chcem priblížiť život, kultúru a bizarnosti v tomto meste a zároveň v celej Číne. Toto sú moje postrehy, ktoré by vás mohli rozhodne zaujať:

• 1. V západných krajinách máme odlišné zvyky ako východná časť sveta. Zvyčajne si dáme pred tvár ruku, keď si chceme odkašlať alebo kýchnuť, ale v Číne vreckovku nepoznajú a radšej všetko potiahnu do seba alebo odkašlú von. Rovnako je to aj s grganím – bez hanby, či ste žena alebo muž.
• 2. Stolovanie – veľmi radi jedia spoločne v kruhu so svojimi rodinami, priateľmi či kolegami v práci, kde si naobjednávajú viac rôznych jedál, o ktoré sa spoločne delia.

• 3. Mľaskanie pri jedení potravín – vždy si nahováram, že si to jedlo tak veľmi vychutnávajú (dokonca aj pri obyčajnom jedení ovocia), ale opak je pravdou, je to tu prirodzené.
• 4. Rôznorodé “delikatesy“, ktoré nájdete asi len v Číne. Medzi ne patria napr. kuracie nohy s pazúrikmi, kačacie hlavy, sušené mäso na rôzne spôsoby, živé žaby v potravinách a iné.

• 5. Pestovanie si dlhých nechtov, špeciálne malíčka je neustále živou tradíciou v Číne, ktorú tu môžete vidieť. Pôvod môžeme nájsť už v starovekej Číne ako  znak najvyššej vrstvy obyvateľstva a znak bohatstva.
• 6. Anime postavičky, gejše a iné kreatúry nie sú ničím výnimočným v uliciach Šanghaja.

• 7. Caution wet floor (pozor mokrá podlaha), toto je typické pre Čínu, kde namiesto utretia podlahy položia informačnú tabulu na zem.
• 8. Automaty s hračkami nájdete skoro všade a sú bežnou súčasťou v nákupných centrách.

• 9. Toalety očakávajte prevažne tureckého typu, než tie klasické, na ktoré sme zvyknutí.
• 10. Bezpečie či neustála kontrola, tak by sa dali opísať aj všade prítomné kamery na uliciach či bezpečnostná kontrola a skener v metre… Vládna kontrola Číny vykazuje veľmi silné socialistické črty, pričom ekonomika je stále centrálne riadená a navyše aj súkromné spoločnosti sú štátom kontrolované. V ranných uliciach Šanghaja môžeme dokonca vidieť pracovníkov firiem ako sú nastúpení do radu a kričia svoj pokrik do nového úspešného pracovného dňa.
• 11. Robotizácia / Automatizácia je v Šanghaji už skutočnosťou, a tak bežne môžete vidieť robotov nielen v továrňach a spoločnostiach, ale napr. aj robotov na uliciach ako policajtov či pracovníkov, ktorí promujú značku a ponúkajú cukríky okoloidúcim. Zaujímavosťou, ktorú som mala možnosť zažiť, bolo automatizované parkovanie na medzinárodnej automobilovej výstave v Guangzhou.
• 12. Deti na vodítku! Aj takto môžete vidieť rodičov strážiť si svoje ratolesti na frekventovaných miestach.

• 13. Metro patrí medzi najfrekventovanejší dopravný prostriedok, v ktorom viete niekedy stráviť hodinu cesty, tým že sú vzdialenosti v Šanghaji ohromujúco veľké. V metre sa za tú dobu dajú zažiť tiež zaujímavé príhody, ako si napríklad ľudia strihajú nechty, využívajú tyče na svoje cvičenie či sa pretekajú o posledné miesto na sedenie ako o život.
• 14. Taxi sú cenovo veľmi dostupné.
• 15. Vlhká zima v Číne je oproti našej suchej zime v Európe pocitovo o dosť nepríjemnejšia. Také bytové kúrenie budete hľadať na apartmánoch v Číne zbytočne, to v zime nahrádza klimatizácia, ktorú musíte mať zapnutú skoro stále, pretože okná tu majú zvyčajne len jednu vrstvu skla.
• 16. Taobao – obľúbená čínska nákupná webstránka, kde môžete nájsť rôznorodý tovar za dobrú cenu. Ak by ste si hľadali teplé veci na zimu, pri tovare nájdete buď plameň alebo horiacu guľu ako znak hrejivosti.

• 17. Používanie VPN je nevyhnutné, ak chcete využívať služby od Google, ktoré sú v Číne dlhodobo blokované, no pripravte sa tak či tak na pomalý internet. Ak má váš smartfón Android, nezabudnite si stiahnuť VPN už pred cestou do Číny, pretože potom s tým už v krajine môžete mať vážny problém.
• 18. Bezhotovostné platenie cez telefón je veľmi populárne a uprednostňované pred platením v hotovosti. Na to, aby ste mohli využívať ich príslušné aplikácie na platenie s názvom WeChat Pay alebo Alipay si musíte zriadiť čínsky bankový účet, ktorý môžete mať iba v prípade, že ste zamestnancom v niektorej z príslušných firiem alebo ste študentom. Bezhotovostné platenie je nielen rýchlejšie, ale aj lacnejšie a výhodnejšie, nakoľko v niektorých reštauračných prevádzkach inak ani nedokážete zaplatiť a zakúpiť si tovar. Aplikáciou dokážete zaplatiť a objednať všetko, na čo si spomeniete.

Shanghai, the most modern and largest city of China with 25 million residents, welcomed me with warm and sunny days, which I could enjoy here even in December. Occasionally higher air pollution come to the city than it should be, but it is still not so bad as in other cities in China. Actually, Shanghai got me from the first day! I can say this city still keep me enjoying in a good way, because here is always what to do, what to explore or try something new. This super modern and fast growing metropolis can be proud for the highest buildings of the world, and on the other hand with their still alive Chinese traditions and love for family life. I was also very pleasantly surprised by the fact that Shanghai is extraordinary green city where you can find plants and trees everywhere.

Among my favourite and the most interesting places in Shanghai that I have visited so far include for example The Bund area, the largest and the most authentic Chinese Buddhist temple Longhua Temple, oriental garden Yu Garden, fabulously charming streets of Xintiandi or shopping street Nanjing Road.

In this most populous city of China is however the most interesting that you are constantly and daily surprised by new things, and that’s the most beautiful, isn’t it? Well, let’s look on it together. I wrote a few points where I want to bring you closer to life, culture and bizzare things in this city and also in whole China. Here is my list of points that might interest you:

• 1. In western countries we have different habbits as eastern part of the world. We usually put our hand in front of our face when we want to cough or sneeze, but in China they don’t know a tissue and they prefer to pull everything to themselves or cough out. It’s the same even with gagging – without shame, if you are a woman or a men.
• 2. Dinning – they love to eat together in the circle with their families, friends or colleagues in work, where they order more different meals that they share together.
• 3. Smacking while eating food – I always say to myself that they enjoy the food so much (even while ordinary fruit eating), but the opposite is true, it’s natural here.
• 4. A variety of “treats“ that you can find probably only in China. These include for example chicken feet with claws, duck heads, dried meat in different ways, live frogs in grocery store and others.
• 5. Growing a long nails, especially a little finger is still alive tradition in China that you can see here. We can already find this origins in ancient China as a sign of the highest society and sign of wealth.
• 6. Anime characters, geisha and other creatures are nothing special in the sreets of Shanghai.
• 7. Caution wet floor, this is typical for China, where they just put information board on the floor instead of wiping the floor.
• 8. Toy machines can be found almost everywhere and they are common part of shopping malls.
• 9. You can expect the toilets mostly of turkish style than the classic ones to which we are used to.
• 10. Safety or constant control, like that could be describe cameras everywhere in the streets or security check and scanner in metro… China’s government shows very strong socialist features, while economics is still centrally controlled and moreover private companies are controlled by state. In the morning streets of Shanghai we can even see workers of companies how they stand in line and scream their shout to the new successful work day. 
• 11. Robotization / Automation is already a reality in Shanghai, so you can normally see robots not just in factories and companies, but also for example robots on the streets as police or workers, who promote the brand and offer candies to passers-by. An interesting thing I had the opportunity to experience was automated parking at the International Automobile Exhibition in Guangzhou.
• 12. Children walking rope! This is how you can see parents guard their children in busy places.
• 13. Metro is one of the most frequent transport, where you can sometimes spend an hour of traveling, because the distances in Shanghai are super far. In metro while this time you can get some interesting experiences like people cut their nails, use the metro handle for workout or race for the last seating place like crazy.
• 14. Taxi is very affordable.
• 15. Wet winter in China is a bit more unpleasant than our dry winter in Europe. Also you will look for heating in apartments in China unnecessarily, this is  replaced by air condition, which you need to have almost always on, because windows usually have just one layer of glass.
• 16. Taobao – a popular chinese shopping website where you can find a variety of goods for a good price. If you are looking for warm clothes for winter on the website, next the goods you can find fire or burning ball as a sign of warmth.
• 17. Cashless payments by telephone are very popular and prefered to cash payment. If you want to use their payment aplications called Wechat Pay or Alipay you need to open chinese bank account, that you can only have if you are employee in some company or you are student. Cashless payments is not only faster, but also cheaper and more convenient, because in some restaurants otherwise you can’t even pay and buy goods. With the aplication you can pay and order literally everything.
• 18. Using VPN is necessary, if you want to use Google’s services that have been blocked in China for a long time, but get ready for slow internet anyway. If your smartphone has Android, be sure to download VPN before your trip to China, because after you can already have a serious problem in the country.
